Muc-Off Essentials Case Takes On The Elements
Alastair Hamilton PEZ sez: Every now and then you see something that makes you think: “That’s looks good!” It doesn’t have to be expensive or technical, but useful and look good. A few weeks ago, Muc-Off sent out a press release with their Essentials Case, that fits into your jersey’s rear pocket. “Nothing new in that,” you say. Yes, but the Muc-Off case is waterproof – A must for your mobile phone and paper money if you go out in the rain or sweat a lot.
The Essentials case is just bigger than an iPhone XS Max, so should take just about every mobile phone. There is a separate zip pouch inside for your money, credit and ID card. There is also a separator and room to put other things in the middle. Muc-Off suggest that you can also put tire levers, tools, inner tubes and CO2 cylinders in the middle section, and there is enough room, but personally I would prefer to keep them separate and use the Essentials Case for just those important money/phone items.
Being waterproof is the most important asset of the case. It is made of ‘premium grade waterproof 6000 TPU’ which feels rubbery on the inside and canvas like on the outside. The zip is waterproof, it’s so tight you can hardy see the join, for sure no water will get in there.
The case also has straps on the rear for a belt or to strap to another bag, but for me it’s perfect for the back pocket. To be honest, I would use this as a wallet if I hadn’t been given one for a recent birthday. It is very well made, robust and, obviously, waterproof. A very nice and simple piece of kit.
