UAE Team Emirates-XRG Confirmed for 2026 Volta ao Algarve
UAE Team Emirates-XRG will return to Portugalβs Algarve region from February 18-22, 2026, as the first confirmed participant in the 51st edition of the Volta ao Algarve cycling race.
The Emirates-based squad will be making its 13th appearance at the Portuguese stage race. The teamβs history with the event includes a memorable overall victory in 2019, when Tadej PogaΔar claimed both his first professional stage win and the general classification.
UAE Team Emirates-XRG has consistently performed well at the race, with notable finishes including Rui Costaβs third place in 2014 and runner-up positions from Brandon McNulty in 2022 and JoΓ£o Almeida in 2025. Last year, the team came agonizingly close to victory, finishing just 15 seconds behind winner Jonas Vingegaard.
The team has also collected four stage victories over the years through Alberto Loddo (2003), Sacha Modolo (2014), PogaΔar (2019), and Jan Christen (2024).
For 2026, the squad is expected to field four Portuguese riders: AntΓ³nio Morgado, JoΓ£o Almeida, Ivo Oliveira, and Rui Oliveira, making it one of the most Portuguese-represented teams in the international peloton.
